Panthers Kicker Graham Gano Could Miss Half The Season

The 32-year-old created 14 of 16 field goals last year, including a 63-yarder which was tied to second-longest in NFL history.
The good news for the Panthers is that kicker Joey Slye has proven to be a viable replacement for Gano. Slye was 7-for-8 in preseason field targets, including three out of 50-plus yards. His only miss came on a blocked field goal at last night win against the Steelers.
If the Panthers want to attract Gano back at any point later in the calendar year, they’ll have to need to hold him on their first 53-man roster, so maintaining two kickers then put him on injured reserve. If they place him on injured reserve now he would be out for the season.
